First Recorded Death Due to Ransomware Attack On Hospital

Sadly, A person in Germany died after the hospital was shut down by a Ransomware attack affecting 30 servers. This is the first recorded such event of patient dying as the direct result of a Ransomware attack. The hospital had to turn her away and reroute her to another hospital 30 kilometers away. The patient who needed urgent care presumably died by the delay in care. Attacking hospitals in the midst of a pandemic or at any time for that matter is morally bankrupt. But that’s why we call the the “bad guys.” Should Ransomware attackers be charged with involunatary manslaughter or homicide?
ZDNET has the story.
