Maze Ransomware Group Says It's Shutting Down in Strange Press Release

The Maze Ransomware cybercrime group said it’s shutting down. The message was posted on its public facing website yesterday in a somewhat bizarre press release with title “The Project is closed.” BleepingComputer spoke to some threat actors who say the Maze affiliates have moved to a new ransomware operation called Egregor.

Graham Cluley’s article had more on the bizarre good bye message. Maze blamed its reason to exist on organizations poor security practices. The rest of the message sounds a little Mr. Robotish.

So long Maze. You won’t be missed.
