Season 3 Episode 9 Recap eps3.8_stage3.torrent
Recap. Season 3 EP9 eps3.8_stage3.torrent

Kevin Mitnick and Christian Slater aka Mr. Robot

Whose addicted to watching “Mr. Robot”? Care to share your thoughts on all aspects of the show? Let us know what you think about the show plot, the plausibility of the hacks so far and what’s going to happen next. Let’s have some fun!

To get you started, we’ve listed all the episodes with a short USA network recap. For more information about the show visit their site.

With S3 Episode 5 (eps3.4_runtime-error.r00I) it looks like Sam Esmail is at least trying to bring some clarity to the roller coaster ride of the last two seasons of hallucinations emanating from the altered reality of Elliot’s mind. But who knows, it could flip back again. At least one thing is clear (for now) Mr. Robot and Elliot are part of the same tortured mind.

We (or my alter ego) grabbed some recaps to share for those who want to take a shortcut. We recommend watching the entire series.

Recaps – Spoiler Alert if you haven’t watched close your eyes.

S3 Episode 5
Aired on 11/08/2017

"USA Networks summed in what must be a twitterized version. (87 with spaces) of 248!

“E Corp in chaos elliot on the run darlene comes to help cant stop wont stop angela FTW.”

Vox.com gave a nice long summary of Episode 5.

“Runtime Error” (which I hope you’ll forgive me calling this episode) only really underlines its long-take nature if you’re actively looking for it. From the first, director Sam Esmail (the series’ creator) and writers Kor Adana and Randolph Leon keep throwing ideas at you, to keep you slightly off-guard.

In the elevator protagonist Elliot (Rami Malek) rides on, there’s talk of China annexing the Congo in the wake of the devastating economic meltdown Elliot and his team of hackers caused at the end of season one. Later, when he seems to address the audience (as he frequently does in voiceover), he’s actually talking to a co-worker, only to realize just how fuzzy he is after a full weekend spent as his alter ego, the titular Mr. Robot, a weekend he doesn’t remember at all.

And if none of that works, then the core conceit of the Elliot half of the episode (for it will, eventually, take on the point of view of his childhood friend turned adult foe — even if he doesn’t know that yet — Angela) is solid enough that it essentially demands the story already be told in real time. To foil an imminent attack by the Dark Army (some sort of paramilitary/terrorist group, which is behind much of the chaos in the series), Elliot needs access to computers at ECorp, the giant company he works for. But Angela has just pulled strings to have him fired, so security is looking to escort him from the building. As Elliott dashes between floors, looking for a computer he can access, it’s easier to ignore the long take.

What’s more, the dreamy nature of Elliot’s reality — in which he’s never quite sure that what he’s looking at is real — also justifies the long take. To my mind, the best long takes are either events that occur in real time (and thus replicate the way our brains can home in on a laser-focused point in stressful situations) or dreamlike situations (where they replicate the way dreams can feel like unending collections of stuff, without a break in the rhythm). Because we’re watching so much of this through Elliot’s eyes, the long take doesn’t feel showy. It feels like how he probably experiences the world.

And then the episode switches to Angela’s point of view, something that should kill it. Instead, it ratchets up “Runtime Error” another level."

Here’s a list of episodes from USA Networks!
S1 EP1

In MR. ROBOT, Elliot, a cyber-security engineer by day and vigilante hacker by night, is recruited by a mysterious underground group to destroy the firm he’s paid to protect. Elliot must decide how far he’ll go to expose the forces he believes are running (and ruining) the world.

1 EP2

Tyrell Wellick, now Evil Corp’s acting CTO since Elliot helped get Terry Colby arrested, makes Elliot an offer he can (and does) refuse: a position as Evil Corp’s head of Cyber Security and a big bank account to match. By saying no, has Elliot made himself a mark for Wellick?

S1 EP3

After being shoved off the railing in Coney Island by Mr. Robot, Elliot wakes up in a hospital room, badly banged up. Krista, his psychiatrist, is inclined to send him to rehab unless he’s willing to be regularly drug tested. Elliot complies, knowing that he can easily change the hospital records for the tests since he hacked their system long ago.

S1 EP4

At fsociety, Elliot lays out his plan to hack Steel Mountain’s climate control system and raise the heat high enough to melt all the tapes that record the data. Romero points out the plan’s many flaws but when Elliot remembers that they only have a few days left before Evil Corp switches over to their new redundant security protocols based on what Tyrell Wellick told him, they reluctantly agree it’s now or never.

S1 EP5

Mr. Robot, Elliot, Romero and Mobley have gained access to Steel Mountain’s parking lot. Now it’s up to a nervous Elliot to pose as a tech billionaire touring the facility so he can plant the device on a thermostat. When Elliot finally manages to shrug off his tour guide, he runs right into Tyrell Wellick. Elliot bluffs about why he’s there and then quickly figures out how to use having lunch with Tyrell as a way of gaining access to the restricted floor. Then Elliot excuses himself to go to the bathroom, where he starts installing the device in the adjacent janitor closet, but Tyrell’s entrance halts his progress. Tyrell says he knows that Elliot framed Terry Colby for the Evil Corp hack, but he believes Elliot did so as revenge for his father’s death, which lessens Tyrell’s opinion of him. After saying that he isn’t going to bother to turn him in, Tyrell leaves, giving Elliot the precious chance he needs to finish the job

S1 EP6

Elliot is given only a few moments to talk to Shayla in a diner before Vera’s henchmen, his brother Isaac and colleague DJ, drag her out. The only way Vera will let her go is if Elliot hacks the jail and gets Vera released by that night, which even for Elliot is an impossible task. Isaac and DJ bring Elliot back to his apartment and stay to keep watch over him as he works. Elliot enlists Darlene to help him get into the jail’s network, but their trick fails and she also ends up getting held by the thugs in Elliot’s apartment until he successfully completes his task.

S1 EP7

A month has passed since everything went down with Shayla and Vera. Elliot has just fulfilled the court-ordered mandate of a year of therapy. Krista signs his papers while urging him to continue their work. His response is to take his completed form and leave. After a few days, however, Elliot returns to her office. It all comes spilling out—that he’s a hacker and to prove it, recounts details about her that he would never know otherwise, stunning her into silence. He desperately wants a way out of this loneliness, just like her. Is that what she’s been wanting to hear?

S1 EP8

While at the arcade, Elliot gets a text that Allsafe has been hacked so he rushes back to the office. The Allsafe team is scrambling to fix the hack and keep news of it from leaking to their clients. While Elliot tries to reverse engineer the malware, he wonders if the hack is just a distraction, and if so, from what. After Ollie oddly orders Elliot to take some infected drives to Blank’s Disk Recovery, Elliot starts putting the clues together and realizes that all of this is an elaborate plan to lead Elliot to his meeting with whiterose.

S1 EP9

Elliot demands to know why Mr. Robot didn’t tell him that he was alive sometime over the last twenty years. Mr. Robot explains that Elliot is not well and that “they” have been feeding him pills so he forgets what they want him to forget. Mr. Robot, nervous that the men in black will hear them, especially because they don’t want Mr. Robot to be alive, takes Elliot to their old house in Washington Township. Mr. Robot has a different take on the window incident that Elliot just can’t reconcile with his own memories. Unable to stand it anymore, Elliot pushes Mr. Robot out of his bedroom window.

Who watched the latest episode? This season is back to earth. At least we think we know who is who and who is doing what to whom? That’s until Sam Esmail tosses all the cards again. I watched the Verge after show interview a few weeks ago. Sam Esmail (the writer) appears from time to time for an interview Q/A from the Verge panelists. Sam said he hoped the viewers didn’t mad at the some of the earlier reality distortions. I’m having a good time watching the latest format which feels like a cyber detective show. But I’m hoping the details of the capers start to get hot again. I love the “Irving” character starring Bobby Cannavale). Bobby was great too in Boardwalk Empire.

I really enjoyed the first two seasons of Mr. Robot. Season 3 has been a struggle for me. I have only managed to make it through the first three episodes. I will finish it and maybe things will make more sense, just a different direction (so far) than the previous 2 Seasons, IMO.

I agree Howard. Usually I am quick to catch on and love the technical side of things with Mr. :robot: . Just Season three (at least at the beginning, again, I am only on my 3rd episode) has been a bit rough from the Drama side.
Once I get a bit further in, I expect it all to make more sense!
I always have enjoyed Christian Slater as well, ever since Pump Up The Volume and was so stoked to see him in such a great role!

(Howard) #6

Same here. Slater is great. Rami Malek is great in his role. I think the idea of this seasons episodes was for Sam Esmail to tie up the loose ends including who the characters are working for. Who are they as people. Put some perspective on the chaos. I think he’s going to bring on some more outstanding cyber adventure. Maybe we’ll see that this Wednesday.

WOW. Season Finale was as good as it gets. Recep soon.
